The child centred curriculum in our Pre-primary (early years) program is in accordance with the Play way and Montessori methods blended with activity-based teaching. The curriculum is designed to cater to the individual interests and potential of children and to enhance the social, creative and cognitive skills and address their emotional quotient so that the children are happy and engaged at school.
An array of activities like creative expressions through Art & Craft, enhancing body rhythm by dancing, exploring and nurturing the latent talent through music, language enrichment program by promoting listening & speaking skills through storytelling, conversation, role play, picture story and story crafting, extensive use of audio visual aids to make classroom learning more enjoyable and training fine motor skills, wellness program which will help in developing gross motor skills through yoga and meditation, karate, skating, outdoor activities, swings and slides, splash pool, ride on the toy train and various events and celebrations provide ample opportunities to develop and showcase their creativity.
To give a wide (age applicable) exposure following activities are included in the curriculum
We, at the Primary Wing of Silver Bells School, believe that the mind, like a parachute, works best when opened. Keeping this initiative in mind, the scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of the curriculum and the evaluation procedure are developed for building the students’ knowledge, potential & talent, to the optimum level. Smart boards in all sections of the primary wing facilitate world-class audio-visual learning which engages students and enables better comprehension. Scientific temperament is inculcated through lab experiments, exhibitions, model making, collage making, nature walk, many multi-skilled activities and interdisciplinary projects.
1. Promotion is granted on the basis of the whole year’s assessment of the student’s performance in scholastic and co-scholastic areas, hence regularity in attendance and work is imperative.
2. Weightage as per the following criteria (mentioned in three parts) will be given for deciding the assessment of the students at the end of the academic session
It consists of the evaluation of Scholastic attainments which will be reflected in the Performance Sheet in the form of Marks and Grades ( 8 point grading)
1. There are two semesters in the academic year. The first Semester is from April to September and the second Semester is from October to March. Each semester has 50% weightage.
2. Each semester has two periodic assessments which include (Periodic Tests, Assignments, Subject Enrichment Activities) and Half yearly / Annual Assessment.
3. Assessment scores are indicated in Grades.
4. The Grading Scale for the Scholastic Domain based on an 8 point Grading Scale is given at the reverse side of the Report Card.
5. PERIODIC TEST( weightage 10 %) – Each Semester has two cycles of Periodic Tests of a maximum of 20 marks for all the subjects on a weekly basis as per the schedule given in the Almanac.
6. ASSIGNMENTS (weightage 5 %) –Each Semester has two cycles of Assignments of a maximum of 15 marks for all the subjects as per the schedule given the in the almanac. (10marks assignment + 5 marks for lab activity/research activity/individual activity)
7. ORAL ASSESSMENT (5 marks)- Oral assessment as a part of Internal assessment is aimed at enhancing the confidence and speaking skills of the students. The oral assessment takes place twice in each Semester in April / May (5 marks) July & Aug (5 marks) and in Oct/ Nov.(5 marks) & Jan/Feb. (5 marks). Marks for the Oral assessment are included in the subject enrichment activities.
8. Subject Enrichment Activities (weightage 5 %)- These are subject-specific and are aimed at enrichment of the understanding, thinking and creative skills. These are recorded twice in each Semester in April / May (5 marks) & Aug(5 marks) Oct (5 marks) &Jan./Feb.(5 marks) by subject teachers for a maximum of 10 marks.
The curriculum is designed and packaged in a manner that challenges students to ask questions, enhance skills, conduct in-depth research, analyse findings, build conceptual understanding, share their learning in a variety of ways that reflect on their responsibility as a part of global community. Each child is supported to discover and fulfil his/her unique potential with a balanced, student friendly programme that nurtures the whole individual – mind, body and soul.
We design the curriculum broadly on the guidelines issued by C.B.S.E from time to time. Importance is given to Scholastic as well as Co-Scholastic domains with plans including mapping units with pedagogical objectives, assessment directives and feedback rubrics.

The details for it is discussed by the subject teachers in the class. The two assessments are reduced to a maximum of 5 marks.
2. Portfolio- (weightage 5 marks) This includes: a) Class Assessment, Assignments and reflectors / Journals/ Achievements/ Narration.
3. b) Two assignments of 20 marks each are done twice in a term. c) The portfolio is assessed and compiled by the subject teachers twice in a Term. 4. Subject Enrichment Activities (weightage 5 marks) – These are subject-specific and are aimed at enrichment of the understanding and skill development. These are recorded once in each Term in Sep. and in Jan./Feb. by the subject teachers for a maximum of 20 marks. The average is calculated for 5 marks
4. Half Yearly and Annual Exams are conducted in September and in March respectively for each subject for a maximum of 80 marks.
It consists of the evaluation of Scholastic Attainments which are reflected in the Performance sheet in the form of Marks and Grades (9 point grading).

4. a) Instead of pen-paper test 4 and multiple assessment / class IX students have Pre Annual Test for a maximum of 80 marks and the average is calculated.
b) Class X has the 2nd Term Exam in December (from cumulative syllabus) for a maximum of 80 marks. In addition, Pre-Board Exams are conducted in January from the entire syllabus. Streams are allotted on the basis of marks obtained in the Pre-Board Exams.
5. Half Yearly and Annual Exams are conducted in September and in March respectively for each subject for a maximum of 80 marks.

2. Promotion of the students at the end of the academic session : (Class XI) is as per CBSE bye-laws.
a) The academic session is divided into 2 terms – April to September and October to March. Each Term will have 50% weightage.
b) In the 1st Term 2 rounds of Block Tests, Assignments and half yearly exam are conducted.
c) In the 2nd Term 1 round of Block Test, 1 round of Pre Annual Exams, Assignments and Annual Exam are conducted.
For the holistic development of a student, besides Scholastic, Co-Scholastic areas are also assessed and grades given accordingly. Details as given in the report card.
2nd Term Examination is held in December.
